About

The Asylum is our long-awaited, much dreamed about,
jaw-dropping, spirit-lifting nomadic theatre space.

After many years (30 to be exact!) travelling Cornwall and the world taking our shows to some incredible venues, towns and cities, we felt that we wanted to create a space of our own – not as a replacement for our touring – but as another dimension.

In this space we can have fun presenting our own work, we can make shows, we can party and we can offer our audiences a pure, unadulterated Kneehigh knees-up. It doesnt replace our touring, we still love to visit all those venues we have visited for many years, it just means that sometimes, we can also take our tent with us…

We have lots of plans for future years, keep visiting this website for updates. For more information on us in general, visit our company website by clicking here

The Asylum,  was designed and built by Gil Gillilan of the Dome Company. Based in Cornwall and Suffolk, and founded in 1990, the Dome Company, has 20 years experience of designing, constructing and supplying touring performance structures each combining the portability of a traditional tent and the strength and capacity of a building. The Asylum, its largest project to date, reflects the company’s ethos: “Combining conventional and new materials to create a structure which is both completely modern and rooted in tradition”.
